Cao Fei’s “RMB City” Opening After a Year!

I’ve been following this project’s progression for quite some time. Cao Fei and her avatar, China Tracy, is one of the most celebrated young Chinese artists in the world. Her RMB City project has taken several forms: it has been a video, an art installation at the world famous Serpentine Gallery in London, and now, a multi-sim Second Life experience.

From the press release:

“After more than a year’s gestation, we are proud to announce the official opening of RMB City to the public. We invite you to join the opening ceremony and the celebration to follow, as well as to truly explore for the first time, ‘Your City in Second Life’.”

Here’s the schedule of the opening celebrations:

Jan 9, 2009: 6pm – 8pm (SLT / PST) 9pm – 11pm (EST)
Jan 10, 2009: 10am – 12pm (Beijing Time)
